The basics every variant shares
A European wheel has 37 pockets (1 to 36 and a single zero); an American wheel adds a double zero, which raises the house edge from 2.70% to 5.26%. French rules with La Partage return half of even-money bets when zero hits, cutting the edge on those bets to 1.35%.

Lightning Roulette (Evolution)
After betting closes, one to five numbers are struck with multipliers from 50x to 500x for straight-up bets. Straight-up wins on other numbers pay 29 to 1. Outside and other inside bets pay as normal. Overall RTP stays around 97%, but straight-up results swing much harder.
Quantum Roulette (Playtech)
Playtech's answer to Lightning: multipliers on random numbers, with extra boost events that can raise them further. As with Lightning, ordinary straight-up wins pay less to fund the multipliers.
Double Ball Roulette
Two balls are launched each round. Inside bets win on either ball, at reduced payouts; most outside bets need both balls to win and pay more in return; special bets pay on both balls landing in the same number. Read the paytable, because almost every payout differs from standard roulette.
How to play the new variants sensibly
- Play European or French wheels; skip American double-zero tables.
- Treat multiplier bets as high-volatility play and size them small.
- Keep side bets to a small share of each stake.
- No system, including Martingale, changes the edge; see table game tips.
