The three main bets
| Bet | Pays | House edge (8 decks) |
|---|---|---|
| Banker | 1:1 minus 5% commission | 1.06% |
| Player | 1:1 | 1.24% |
| Tie | 8:1 | 14.36% |
Banker wins slightly more often because of the drawing rules, which is why a commission is taken. On no-commission tables the casino instead pays only half when Banker wins with a total of 6, which lifts the Banker edge to about 1.46%.
Variants at new casinos
- Speed Baccarat: same rules, rounds of about 27 seconds; more hands per hour means more expected loss per hour.
- Squeeze: the cards are revealed slowly. Drama, not maths.
- No Commission: see the Banker-on-6 rule above.
- Lightning Baccarat: random card multipliers, paid for by a fee on every bet.
Live tables come mostly from Evolution, Ezugi and Pragmatic Play Live; new baccarat casinos shows where to find them.
Side bets
Player Pair and Banker Pair pay 11:1 and carry an edge of about 10% on eight decks; other side bets are often worse. If you play them, keep them to a small fraction of each stake.
Betting systems
Martingale (double after a loss), Fibonacci and 1-3-2-4 change how wins and losses are spread, not the edge. A worked number: starting at ₱50, seven Banker losses in a row on Martingale mean a next bet of ₱6,400 with ₱6,350 already lost. Table limits and your budget end the system long before the odds turn.
Bankroll
- Bet 2% to 3% of your session budget per hand: ₱200 to ₱300 on ₱10,000.
- Set a loss limit for the session and leave when you reach it.
- The scoreboard roads record the past; they do not predict the next hand.
